A fairly recent Stardew Valley update quietly adds a gloriously helpful new trick.

We’ve all heard the term “indie darling” countless times, especially during a generation when the quality of indie games closely resembles or even surpasses those provided by big AAA properties.

Since its inception in 2016, perhaps no game has lived up to being an “indie darling” more than Stardew Valley developed by ConcernedApe. Nearly 10 years have passed since its initial launch and Stardew Valley still remains popular to this very day.

Over the years, Stardew Valley has been released on just about every platform possible and better still, it’s continually supported with a wealth of free content that helps to keep the game feeling fresh and exciting.

One of its most recent free content updates arrived to celebrate Christmas adding some much-needed festive cheer.

As reported by Comicbook.com (via Reddit), the 1.6 update which dropped in November 2024 not only makes various quality-of-life improvements but also adds some welcomed new features.

Stardew Valley is already an incredibly immersive game aided by its many side-quests that reward players with precious items that could help to grow better crops to make your little farm the envy of all villagers.

As if quests weren't already fulfilling enough, the 1.6 update has added prize tickets to the rewards pool. But it may get a little overwhelming keeping track of which quests to complete and when new quests will arrive.

Thankfully, the 1.6 update has implemented a new tracker. This tracker not only helps you keep focused on objectives but it will also inform you of the star rating of each mission.

It’s believed by many that the stars may have represented mission difficulty but that’s not the case. As pointed out by Reddit users, when a third star appears it means that a new mission has become available for you to take on and claim new rewards such as the prize tickets.

Stardew Valley is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
