Stardew Valley is hiding a rare encounter only a handful of players have experienced

It's a real whodunnit

Stardew Valley can be a mammoth game, filled with little details and hidden secrets, implemented over years and years of updates.

Many players could believe they’ve seen everything, whether that be romancing NPCs or hunting down rare wildlife, but there’s apparently one Stardew Valley secret that only a few people have seen.

It’s such a rare occurrence that even veteran players on Reddit are still puzzled by the event.

It was described by one player in a Reddit thread, and they gave as much detail as possible.

Essentially, a tree was cut down on their farm by a mysterious NPC.

“There was what looked to be an NPC (they were facing towards the screen, towards me, not my in-game character) having just finished cutting down the aforementioned tree,” explained lzarra79. They continued, “when my character exited the house, the tree was already falling to the ground. I saw the face of the NPC briefly.”

They added that the save file had never accessed multiplayer previously, and believed this to be a glitch of some kind.

The mystery only deepened when other Redditors remembered a similar story years before.

“I've seen this mentioned on here before,” said Glitchling78_, who went on to say, “I'm inclined to believe this is the last secret CA mentioned hadn't been found yet.”

Other Redditors who had experienced the mystery reentered the chat to confirm it happened to them, and they were relieved to see they weren’t crazy.

“The fact that the mystery goes back as far as seven years ago is insane and kind of freaky,” commented _jinana.

When asked if it could be explored through the source code, one Redditor noted, “Because there isn’t any dialogue involved, it would be difficult to pinpoint this in the source code.”

It seems this is a super rare event, and it still hasn’t been solved years later.
