Stardew Valley Players Left Gutted By New-Gen Update Delay

Cutting it a little bit close with this one...

A new upgraded version of Stardew Valley, touted for “fall 2025”, is on its way… although, isn’t there like a week left of “fall”? Is there really a chance this is gonna drop in the next week?

As announced by ConcernedApe himself, a new 1.7 update for Stardew Valley is on its way. For now, we’re not entirely sure what the new update will contain or exactly when it will land– but luckily, this article isn’t about the 1.7 update, so I won’t have to theorise too hard about that and potentially embarrass myself.

The update I’m referring to is the previously announced Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade for Stardew Valley, which Nintendo announced during a Nintendo Direct presentation back in September.

The upgrade for the Nintendo Switch 2 is adding some neat features to the game, like 4-player splitscreen co-op and mouse control support for the Switch 2 Joy-Cons.

The funny thing is, the announcement, which you can see for yourself here, outright stated that the update is going to drop in “fall 2025”.

As spotted by the handsome, talented and loveable Ewan Moore over on ScreenRant, “fall” (or, as it's referred to elsewhere, autumn) ends on December 21. For those of you doing some quick maths in your head, that’s roughly eight days away.

This led some fans to assume that some kind of Stardew Valley-related announcement would be featured at the 2025 Game Awards. As I’m sure you can already tell from the context of the headline, that’s been and gone… and no Nintendo Switch 2 update for Stardew Valley has dropped.

So what’s the deal, man? Has ConcernedApe LIED to us? How could he do this to us, after all we’ve been through together? That’s it, I’m cancelling my Haunted Chocolatier pre-order right now.

Ok so, jokes aside, there’s obviously a week left before the Nintendo Switch 2 update is technically late, but even if it is… that’s fine.

ConcernedApe is a busy man. He’s currently working on the aforementioned Switch 2 upgrade, the 1.7 update for Stardew Valley, and his new game, Haunted Chocolatier.

I think we can afford him a little bit of leeway here, especially considering the Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade is going to be free anyway.

Take your time, man. In fact, maybe take a holiday while you’re at it. We can wait as long as you need (especially if we’re not paying anything for it).
