For a long time, Stardew Valley was one of the most consistent games when it came to keeping fans informed, providing regular updates and working to continually move the game forward.
Particularly considering that it spent most of its life under the sole guardianship of a single developer (ConcernedApe), it really is one of gaming's great success stories.
That said, things have been dialling down somewhat over the last year or two, as ConcernedApe moves on to his next project in spooky simulator Haunted Chocolatier.
Updates have become less regular (though a 1.7 version has been confirmed) and many have resigned the game to smaller changes over the next few years, rather than major content additions.

That said, fans were promised an entirely new version of the game in the Fall/Autumn of 2025, and it's yet to materialise, leaving many baffled.

Stardew Valley Switch 2 Edition is Nowhere to be Seen
You might remember back in September that Nintendo of America confirmed that a Switch 2 version of Stardew Valley was on the way, with mouse controls, four player split-screen co-op and GameShare to sweeten the deal.
With Winter now drawing in, that version of the game has not appeared, leaving many wondering where it is or when they might expect it to release.
"Was hoping to surprise my wife for her birthday this weekend by playing split screen, guess it’s not coming out till November at this point.
"Probably closer to Thanksgiving," one comment on Reddit read.
"Playing Stardew Valley on console is lowkey torture. When tf is the Switch 2 version releasing? I need my mouse controls. 'Fall of 2025', IT'S ALMOST DECEMBER," another added on Twitter/X
Another posted on the developer's page simply asking for an update, saying, "Any Stardew Valley Switch 2 Edition news?"
In all fairness to the developer and Nintendo, this season technically carries on until the middle of December, so they won't have been actually misleading anyone until we get to Winter itself.
The very exciting thing to be aware of if you already own the original version of the game, is that the upgrade for the Switch 2 is set to cost absolutely nothing at all, continuing Stardew Valley's long tradition of being a player first game.
The only exception to that is Japan, where the game will cost the lowest possible fee, as the country's legislation prevents it from being given away for free.
