Ever watched/read The Lord Of The Rings or The Hobbit and thought about how great it’d be to live in The Shire?

A peaceful, simple life like one of the famous LOTR protagonists Frodo or Sam before they get hurtled into their adventures, well you can in Tales Of The Shire and…oh it’s been delayed again?.. Nevermind.

I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait though, it looks adorable

While you wait though there is a fantasy game that’s sort of like Tales Of The Shire but obviously not related to any of Tolkien’s fantasy world.

It’s called a Steam game called Pixelshire, and it has that cosy Stardew Valley vibe that you may be looking for right now.

The game’s description reads: “Build the town of Pixelshire and grow your community in a unique RPG sandbox which mixes life sim elements with town building, exploration, and combat. Express yourself by planning the town to your liking, master trades, get to know your neighbours, and explore the continent of Arcadia.”

Sounds simple enough, and I think we can all benefit from a farming-sim every now and then right? Something to take the edge off after a difficult day or just some a little less violent than what we’re currently playing.

As much as I’d love to say you can play Pixelshire right now, I’m afraid I can’t as the game isn’t out yet.

Fear not though as you don’t have too long to wait, as the game’s release date is apparently 8 May, so just over a month, it could be worse.

There are of course plenty of other games that may scratch that cosy game itch, like Stardew Valley, which never seems to get old even though updates for it have slowed down over the years.

Definitely keep Pixelshire in the back of your mind though, or wishlist it for updates on its launch.
