Stardew Valley now has a brand new free mod you can download which is perfect for fans of The Lord of the Rings.
Maple’s Tolkien Paintings is a new mod for Stardew Valley that was uploaded to Nexus Mods last week, which adds a series of The Lord of the Rings-esque paintings to the game.
These paintings act as replacements for some of the artwork you can already get in-game, with many recreating iconic scenes from the book and films.
Considering that Stardew Valley uses a pixel art design, it’s difficult to understand some of the contents of these new paintings. However, some scenes are a bit easier to make out.

For example, two paintings that I immediately picked up on include the one depicting a silhouette of the Fellowship of the Ring on their journey, and another showing the Eye of Sauron. Both images are taken from the film version.
However, there are some which also resemble artwork that was created from the book, such as the soft pastoral imagery that depicts the Shire. There’s also a rather amusing portrait of Gandalf which I’d like to hang up in my living room.
Meanwhile, the mod also adds some other miscellaneous types of paintings, such as in the form of banners or ornamental displays taken from the original text.

The green and red flags of Rohan which depict white horses can be obtained for your Stardew Valley house, as well as a display of the remaining shards of Narsil, the “blade that was broken”.
26 Paintings Are Added In Total To Stardew Valley, Each Themed After A Scene From The Lord Of The Rings
In total, you’re getting 26 paintings added to the game, replacing a bunch of paintings that can already be obtained through the game’s various means.
However, considering that Stardew Valley has around 59 paintings in total, there are loads that haven’t been hit by these changes. If you’d like to see the full list, you can spawn each painting using CJB Item Spawner.
Meanwhile, mod author maplepixel has also stated their interest in expanding the mod with more paintings to include new scenes from the book and film.
Considering the mod is strictly using images from The Lord of the Rings, as opposed to further Tolkien works like The Hobbit or The Silmarillion, it’s unknown whether this may be what allows them to branch out in future updates.
If you’d like to download Maple’s Tolkien Paintings for Stardew Valley now, you can grab the mod from Nexus Mods.
