Several Disney properties, including none other than Star Wars, have found a new home… although the lineup of initial releases does leave a lot to be desired.
Everything Disney, from Star Wars to Spider-Man, is now set to be published through a brand new partner at some point in the near future, as part of a freshly announced “multi-year collaboration”.
The properties include, but are likely not limited to, Star Wars, Spider-Man, The Avengers, the Alien franchise, and Disney’s line of Disney princesses.
The collaboration was announced last night on the official Webtoons site, and will “include classic comic series, graphic novels, and all-new original webcomic series”.

“Our collaboration with WEBTOON will allow us to expand our beloved franchise universes on a best-in-class digital platform,” Daniel Fink, SVP and Head of Digital Innovation at Disney Consumer Products revealed in the press release.
“We look forward to engaging with their dedicated, global user base while welcoming future fans to experience a redefined form of Disney storytelling that will have a lasting impact in the digital comics space.”
Webtoons also revealed which comic book runs will drop on the site first, during the initial wave of releases.
These include Amazing Spider-Man (2022-present), Avengers (2012) Star Wars (2015) Alien (2021) and Disney As Old As Time: A Twisted Tale.

Which leads me to the comment I made in the first paragraph, because… really? You’re opening with Zeb Wells’ atrocious Spider-Man run?
I get that Disney and Marvel probably want new readers to get up to date with the most recent Spidey comic book arc, but c’mon man. That’s going to convince new readers to never touch a Spider-Man comic book ever again.
Oh well, at least the Alien and Star Wars runs are half decent. Very curious to find out what those “all-new original webcomic series” will result in though.
