Star Wars Modders Do it Again, Genesis Rival Playable for Free Right Now

Star Wars modders continue to make the games we’ve been asking for, with another banger like Star Wars: Genesis available now, for free.
In case you somehow missed it, the best Star Wars game you’ll ever play isn’t even a Star Wars game, it’s Starfield.
Star Wars: Genesis is a mod for Bethesda’s open-world RPG that took gamers by storm last year, and it’s already doing the rounds in 2026 too.
It’s a complete overhaul and practically unrecognisable from the original game, it’s well-worth checking out if you haven’t already.

Now if you liked Star Wars: Genesis you’ll be delighted to hear that there’s a second mod out there that you’ll probably like just as much.
It’s a mod for a game called Warno, which you can find on Steam and is currently on sale if you’re interested. Simply put it’s a World War battle simulator that lets you plan and unleash all-out battle between rival factions, and it comes highly-recommended from those who’ve played it.
Galactic Divide is a free expansion mod you can pair with the game, and as you can probably tell it brings the warring factions from the galaxy far, far away to the game.
At the time of writing it seemingly only supports the Galactic Republic vs the Separatists, so you’ll see clones and droids duke it out on the ground and a wide variety of starfighters clash in the air.
You’ll even be able to control and manoeuvre the enormous cruisers both sides use, unleashing devastating firepower in glorious ship battles.
Battle simulators aren’t usually my cup of tea but I’d love to check this one out, as it feels like the perfect blend of Star Wars; Battlefront and the Star Wars: Armada tabletop game.
Is it better than Star Wars: Genesis? That’s down to the individual but I’d say no, as Genesis will appeal to a broader demographic of Star Wars fans and what the modding team has accomplished with its build is nothing short of spectacular. That said Galactic Divide is an equally excellent expansion mod that breathes new life into a game that’s probably flown under thousands of gamer’s radars.
2026 is looking a little barren when it comes to Star Wars games unfortunately, with the good stuff like Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic currently being several years out, so we’re incredibly thankful to these fan-made mods for keeping us entertained while we wait.
