Creatives have spent years mining the history of iconic Star Wars characters, perhaps none more so than Darth Vader.

What occurred in the galaxy between Anakin giving himself over to the dark side, and seeing Vader confront Leia in A New Hope, leaves years of spreading chaos and evil throughout the stars.

This new Star Wars novel takes place before the events of A New Hope

Now there’s a new Star Wars novel coming that will follow Vader as he seeks to conquer death.

Star Wars: Master of Evil, written by Adam Christopher, will apparently take us into the darkest story in Vader’s history.

The book is already available to pre-order, and will be released on 11 November 2025.

Featuring a striking cover from Simon Goinard, the book takes place in the years before A New Hope, and show us Vader in a very dangerous state of mind.

Vader will be searching for ways to cheat death - unsurprising seeing as his fall to the dark side was fuelled by the death of his mother, and then his wife.

At this point in his life, he still believes his children - Luke and Leia - died with Padme, and the novel will show us a very unstable Vader sowing chaos wherever he goes.

Immortality has always been a goal for Sith in the Star Wars universe, and it’s no wonder it’s at the top of Vader’s shopping list.

As for what else occurs in the novel, we’ll have to wait to find out, as not much information has been revealed.

With the Star Wars celebration happening in Japan later this week, we may get more details to build hype for a new chapter in the canon.

It’s safe to say there is more Star Wars entertainment than any avid fan can consume, and creatives will continue to go back to the well to round out the iconic characters.
