In the world of Star Wars, the narrative often gets filled in by books, comics, and TV shows now that the films are on the backburner at Disney.

This means that Luke Skywalker’s latest adventure takes place in a new comic book, Battle of Jakku: Insurgency Rising.

The Battle of Jakku comics prepare for the sequel trilogy of Star Wars films

This new comic is one part of a new Star Wars trilogy that bridges the events of the original trilogy and the sequel trilogy of films.

In this comic, we get to see Luke Skywalker taking on a new Sith threat after the Battle of Endor in Return of the Jedi.

Palpatine’s successor, Gallius Rex, is committed to a plan to burn down the empire which Palpatine wanted in the event of his death.

So it’s not a time of peace for the galaxy as we once thought and Luke must travel to Pillio, a planet where the emperor stored an ancient compass.

The relic is much-needed by the rebel alliance and in pursuit of it, Luke encounters two new threats in the form of Sith acolytes.

It’s here that Skywalker finds himself fighting against Yuan Howzell and Yupe Tashu while chaos ensues for his friends across the galaxy.

It doesn’t stop there, however, as Luke later finds himself face-to-face with an inquisitor.

We’re not sure who this new inquisitor is but they’re not here to mess around and is happy to wield a red lightsaber in front of Luke, almost goading him.

This all happens in Battle of Jakku – Insurgency Rising #3, so there’s plenty more to come as new issues see the light of day.

Who is this inquisitor? What is their plan seeing as the Empire is crumbling and only scraps of their force is holding onto power desperately?

We all know Luke is going to utilise his power and fight off evil once again, all before he goes into exile ready for Rey to find him years later.
