Revenge of the Sith fans can soon enjoy a new Star Wars prequel centred all around General Grievous.

It’s wild to think that Star Wars: Episode 3 – Revenge of the Sith is now 20 years old. I still vividly remember seeing it in cinemas all those years ago, and it blew my 10-year-old mind at the time.

I also remember Revenge of the Sith’s rather aggressive marketing campaign, where it felt like you couldn’t escape a constant bombardment of ads, toys and tie-in campaigns for the film.

A large part of that marketing was General Grievous too, who at the time was a mysterious new character being introduced for Revenge of the Sith. I still remember his inclusion in the 2003 Clone Wars cartoon series really hyping me up for the film.

Revealed by Lucasfilm Publishing at San Diego Comic Con earlier this week, it appears that General Grievous is getting a new prequel as part of an upcoming roster of new graphic novels from the publisher.

Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories—Grievous will tell a story set during the Clone Wars, sometime in the interim between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, that focuses on Grievous’ mission to conquer the planet of Katou.

It also seems to tease a bit of Jedi and Count Dooku action, which may be a welcome sight for fans of The Clone Wars.

The official book summary reads: “Count Dooku has sent General Grievous to conquer the jungle planet of Katou. It's an opportunity to prove Grievous' worth to his Sith masters. The herders of Katou are no match for the mechanized monster. Still, when Jedi Knight Cardiff Baye and his clone troopers arrive, Grievous takes to the forest for a stealthier approach.

“Can the general's brute strength defeat the heroes of the Republic, or will his beastly nature be his downfall?”

It’s possible that this story will shed a new light on Grievous, who was pretty awesome in the Star Wars expanded material that he appeared in, but was ultimately quite disappointing in the film.

I mean, we barely got to see him fight with all four of his arms before Obi-Wan Kenobi ended up cutting two of them off.

Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories—Grievous will launch in bookshops on 13th January, 2026, and comic shops on 14th January, 2026, priced at $19.99.
