Despite it being almost eight years since it was first launched, Star Wars Battlefront II is having a resurgence and it is officially bigger and better than ever.

First released back in 2017, Star Wars Battlefront II is an action shooter game from developer DICE.

As the fourth main instalment in the Star Wars: Battlefront series, Star Wars Battlefront II features both single and multiplayer modes with the single-player campaign set during the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.

The story follows original character Iden Versio, the commander of an Imperial special ops strike who later defected to the New Republic after learning of the Galactic Empire’s tactics.

After its launch in 2017, Battlefront II received multiple content updates which wrapped up in 2020, just after the Celebration Edition which was released in 2019.

However, despite it being many years since it last received a content update, millions of fans are returning to the hit shooter title.

As a result, Star Wars Battlefront II is now a top-selling game on Steam almost eight years after its original launch.

This achievement was recently shared over on r/StarWarsBattlefront and fans were quick to share their thoughts over this impressive milestone.

“Currently 23rd in top selling games (was around the 80th rank 3-4 days ago),” one user shared.

“Its price jumped back to $25+ on unofficial stores. Currently the Xbox store has the cheapest price for it.”

Another added: “I went to re-purchase it last night (used to play on PS4) and realized that it's included with EA Play, which is included with PC Game Pass.

So anybody with a PC Game Pass can just download it and jump back in at no additional cost.”

It goes without saying that these discounts and deals are definitely helping with the Battlefront II resurgence.

However, many fans are hoping that this popularity will inspire Star Wars Battlefront III so watch this space…
