Star Wars Battlefront 3 unites fans as dormant series returns from dead

The Star Wars Battlefront series is in many ways the peak Star Wars video game experience, and a third game is needed.

I say third game, I mean Star Wars Battlefront 3 specifically as despite there technically being four games in the series there’s never been a third instalment.

While suffering some hiccups early into its life Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017) turned out to be a great multiplayer title, and it’s a shame its success never led to another sequel

Despite it coming out in 2027 though Star Wars Battlefront 2 has received another surge of players, many of which jumped on for 4 May and just continued playing.

The servers are populated again with around 100,000 concurrent players this week and it’s got many fans thinking about the future, the mythical Star Wars Battlefront 3.

Scrolling through my own TikTok feed I’ve seen so many comments asking for a third game, sometimes on posts that are completely unrelated to Star Wars.

Many believe this recent spike in players is as good a chance as any to convince Electronic Arts that a third game needs to be made, especially with the Star Wars IP still holding strong with all the new projects on the way.

“I think we'll get a Battlefront 3 eventually. Maybe not in the next 2 years, but eventually. I'm a Portal and Elder Scrolls fan. I can be patient” said one fan on Reddit on the prospect of a third game.

Another added “I will literally just settle for more updates to Battlefront 2 I am so desperate”, honestly I feel that.

Personally I think there’s a good chance it’ll happen at some point. People love Star Wars and with so many more films and TV shows on the way it’d be a shame to not release more games to go alongside them.
