Combining the creepy atmosphere of Dead Space with the outright horror of Alien Isolation, this upcoming horror game based in the Star Trek universe is not one to be missed out on.

If you are brave enough.

First announced back in August, Star Wars: Infection is an upcoming VR game set during the Star Trek: The Next Generation / Deep Space Nine era with publisher Bloober Team at the helm.

Set to launch on the Meta Quest 3 and Steam VR, we now know that Star Wars: Infection will arrive on 31 March 2026 so there is not long left until you can dive into this horror game that has been likened to titles such as Dead Space and Alien Isolation.

Developed by Played With Fire, Star: Wars Infection will task you with confronting the darkness within your very own ship… and your mind.

In this survival horror experience, you will explore a ruined Defiant-class starship as you take on an unknown entity who is doing everything it can to mutate your body.

“You’re a Vulcan Starfleet officer, sent on a special mission aboard the U.S.S. Lumen, but something has gone horribly wrong,” the official synopsis reads.

“There’s no crew in sight, and an unknown entity has infested the ship. Now it’s inside your body, physically mutating you, unlocking dangerous new abilities at the cost of your sanity.”

Embrace or Reject Your New Powers

Choose to withstand or embrace the mutation taking over your body as you use your Medical Tricorder to keep track of your condition and it is here that you will decide whether to attempt a cure or use the mutations to your advantage.

However, as you unlock powerful abilities, you may also suffer with the side effects and with your sanity and resolve working against you, you may not have what it takes to conquer the entity which threatens to overwhelm everything you know.

Use your Tricorder to scan the environment and use your Phaser, Vulcan nerve pinch or even just stealth to escape the threat onboard.

Thanks to VR technology, you will be able to truly immerse yourself in the horrifying world by interacting with the ship, crafting tools and even weapons, all of which will help with your survival.

So if you want to get stuck into a brand-new survival horror in the new year, make sure to check out Star Trek: Infection for a truly unique experience with all that virtual reality has to offer.

Star Trek: Infection had originally been given a 11 December release date but is now coming out in March 2026.
