Korean dramas have taken the world by storm recently, and none more so than last year's series about playground games for the poor - Squid Game.

With its global success, it's no surprise that Netflix would be paying director Hwang Dong-hyuk the big bucks to create a new season of TV gold. Everyone has been baiting their breath since watching the first installment, eager to see more from the beloved cast. However, while it was previously confirmed that protagonist Gi-hun would make a comeback, almost everyone else in the first season did not find the whole experience to be child's play.

Those who didn't know that a second season was in the works, can watch an interview with the creator and main actors discussing it below.

Now in a recent red carpet interview with Deadline, Hwang and leading actress of the first season HoYeon Jung, have hinted at what could be coming when the series returns. Previously stating he had the seed of an idea for a second series, it seems Hwang still hasn't started work on the script.

“There will be more great games, that’s all I can say. I’m just still brainstorming and collecting the ideas for season two. I haven’t even started with the writing yet.” However, when asked if beloved characters would show their faces again, whether in flashbacks, or through a kind of prequel subplot, he appeared to give conflicting answers.

While he points out that almost everyone from the original series is no longer of this world he also promised “I’ll try something to bring them back to Season 2.”He then gestured to the model turned actress Jung and joked, “let’s say maybe she has a twin sister, you’ll see.” Jung herself appeared in on the joke, saying with a laugh, "let’s do a little like plastic surgery.”

It seems a while yet before we find out anything about the second series, but I will scream like the little girl if Jung blesses our screens once more.
