New Spyro Game Is Coming, LinkedIn Whoopsie Confirms

Former developer gives LinkedIn update.

A LinkedIn post may have accidentally just revealed a new Spyro game in the works.

The Spyro series has lay dormant for a number of years. While we had the rather fun Spyro Reignited Trilogy in 2018, it’s been a long time since we had a new game.

In fact, the last new Spyro game we got was The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon in 2008, so our favourite purple dragon has actually been absent for nearly 18 years.

That may have been the case for all that time, but it seems like we may be getting some news regarding a new Spyro title very shortly, if a new leak is to be believed.

Ex-Toys For Bob developer Donald Yatomi posted on his LinkedIn profile that the company was allegedly working on something Spyro-related as of last year.

Yatomi, who worked at the company between 2022 and 2024, posted his experience as a senior concept artist at the company with simply two games: Call of Duty and Spyro.

As we all know, Toys For Bob was moved onto Call of Duty in early 2021, a move that was seen to be rather unpopular after the developer had successfully delivered several popular Crash and Spyro games in the preceding years.

Could This Be A Teaser For The New Spyro Game?

Although Toys For Bob also released Crash Team Rumble in 2023 (which did feature Spyro as a playable character), there hasn’t really been any solid Spyro content from the team since, making this cryptic LinkedIn error rather interesting.

“Holy sh**. Don't get me all excited just to be disappointed for the millionth time,” wrote one fan on the Spyro Reddit page.

“I have to admit this is pretty solid evidence,” reads another comment in the same thread. “People are going to bend over backwards to deny it, but I think this is pretty suggestive given the timelines.”

Obviously, take all of this with a pinch of salt. The Spyro series has been on hiatus for a long time, and while it’d be great to get a new game, this isn’t definitive confirmation that a new game is in development.

For now, we’d have to wait for an official announcement from either Toys for Bob, Activision, or Xbox Game Studios.

What we do know is that Toys For Bob is making a game underneath Xbox Game Studios, which at this point will likely be a multiplatform release. However, we don’t know if that means it’s going to be a new Spyro, or something else entirely.
