Snoop Dogg Is Coming To Call Of Duty, For Some Reason

The official Call of Duty Twitter account has teased a crossover with the iconic rapper.

It seems that iconic rapper Snoop Dogg is making his way over to Call of Duty: Vanguard, Warzone and Mobile next month. A not-so-subtle teaser was posted on the official Call of Duty Twitter account last night, confirming the crossover.

“Recovered these Dogg Tags in battle. Anyone know whose they are?” the tweet reads. As well as the obvious spelling of “Dogg Tags”, a short video attached to the tweet also includes an audio clip of some coughing, followed by a very recognisable “damn!”

Before we go on, be sure to check out some of the funniest COD: Warzone wins and fails below.

The “Dogg Tags” in question also seem to reveal when this crossover will be going live - the first, which reads “Call of Duty Vanguard, Warzone” is followed by the numbers 041922, a.k.a. 04/19/22 (19 April). The second, which reads “Call of Duty Mobile”, is followed by 040122 (1 April). At first glance, those dates might seem a little random, but what do you get if you add the 1 and 19 together? Yup, 20 April. Very on brand. At the moment, it’s not known exactly what the crossover will consist of - as ComicBook reports, it’s likely that he’ll be joining the game as an operator, but we’ll have to wait and see.

This news follows another very unexpected announcement from earlier this month, that Snoop Dogg has joined FaZe clan. He’ll apparently be on their board of directors when the company goes public sometime this year, and will “co-create content, participate in key business initiatives, and launch merchandise with the brand”.

“The organic relationship between FaZe and Snoop has been building for years now, so we are thrilled to officially welcome FaZe Snoop to the family,” FaZe Clan chief strategy officer Kai Henry said in a press release earlier this month. “As the original internet kid and first generation gamer, Snoop has always understood the cultural connection between music, lifestyle and gaming. Today, Snoop is a prominent voice in the emerging Web3 community and we have exciting plans to create together in the metaverse, driving new engagement opportunities for both of our fanbases.”

So yeah, that’s a thing. This isn’t actually Snoop Dogg’s first appearance in the Call of Duty series - he made his debut as an in-game commentator in a DLC pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts, so I guess technically he’s a recurring character now? I couldn’t tell you what that means for the lore of the COD universe, to be honest with you.
