Skyrim mod totally overhauls the game's NPCs, making them more beautiful than ever

This new Skyrim mod has completely revamped the NPCs' visuals - each one of them has been edited by hand, and the results are incredible.

Just in case you thought modders had run out of ways to improve Skyrim, think again. One new mod transforms all the NPCs into even more beautiful versions of themselves, and it's genuinely brilliant.

As reported by DSOGaming, modder ‘ace’ (via Nexus Mods) has created the “High Poly True To Vanilla NPC Overhaul” mod, and it sounds like it was a really time consuming project. Each and every Skyrim NPC has been edited by hand, and while some of the changes were more subtle, others were completely re-sculpted to improve their look.

Check out some of the funniest Skyrim wins and fails below.

According to the modder, these changes are all “lore-friendly”, and the majority of NPCs now have a more “natural” look. Looking at the images, it certainly looks like they’ve made some huge improvements (although they clarified that they've applied some additional mods for the screenshots). If you want to check it out, you can download the mod for free here.

There’s basically a Skyrim mod for everything at this point - whether you want a general visual overhaul, the ability to pet the dogs (the most important one, if you ask me), or even for the NPCs to say your player name out loud. That last one led to some chaotic dialogue, as you’d imagine.

It’s no wonder that players are coming up with so many different changes to the game when we’ve been waiting so long for the next title. The Elder Scrolls VI still isn’t expected to release for a number of years, but it’s claimed that it’ll last us for “decades” when it comes out. Definitely can’t complain about that. Hopefully, it’ll actually release on PlayStation consoles - there are whispers that it could be an Xbox exclusive.

Anyway, if you were planning on playing through Skyrim again any time soon, be sure to get that new NPC mod slapped on there. It looks gorgeous, and maybe if you squint hard enough, you’ll be able to trick yourself into thinking it’s the new game. Probably not, though.
