A Skyrim player has discovered a massive shortcut to reaching the highest mountain in Tamriel, the Throat of the World.

It still amazes me that to this day, players are still making discoveries in the most popular entry in The Elder Scrolls series, otherwise known as Skyrim. One such discovery is the subject of today’s story.

Check out the Skyrim Anniversary Edition trailer below!

“Skyrim reimagines and revolutionises the open-world fantasy epic, bringing to life a complete virtual world open for you to explore any way you choose,” reads the description of the Bethesda RPG. “Play any type of character you can imagine, and do whatever you want; the legendary freedom of choice, storytelling, and adventure of The Elder Scrolls is realised like never before.”

So, what is this shortcut that an eagle-eyed Skyrim player has discovered, I hear you ask? The discovery was made when ascending the Throat of the World, a place where the High Hrothgar monastery can be found.

Typically, when making your way to the top of this gruelling mountain, you make that journey via the “Seven Thousand Steps” which can take a good few minutes (which is fairly long by video game standards).

However, as seen in a gameplay clip shared by a Reddit user, this journey can take just one minute from the bottom of the mountain to the High Hrothgar monastery, if you know where to find the secret path.

“There's always more than one path in Skyrim. The path that is intended, and the path that is made,” replied NahDontLook. “That's one of the reasons this game is so great! I found this path on my first playthrough,” the author of the thread responded.

“I normally use my horse to walk up the side of the mountain,” said JTheP47 (poor horse).

It will be interesting to see if players are still making Skyrim discoveries in Bethesda’s ever-popular RPG by the time The Elder Scrolls VI decides to grace us with its presence.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. It’s also included with an Xbox Game Pass subscription at no extra cost.
