With some clear Dead Space influences to boot

A PlayStation 5 exclusive title just got a new trailer, and it looks like a mix between Resident Evil, Dino Crisis, and a little bit of Dead Space for good measure.

The reveal trailer for Code Violet just went up on the official PlayStation YouTube account and it’s already getting roasted for looking like hot garbage.

The game is being developed by Teamkill Media, the team behind the 2023 title Quantum Error (which, for those of you who didn’t play that game, is not a good sign).

There isn’t really anything in the way of gameplay in the trailer, so it is a little too soon to form an entire opinion of its quality but… I understand why some folks are accusing it of using “unreal free assets.”

However, the most perplexing thing about this game is its PlayStation exclusivity - because it’s probably not exclusive for the reason you might have assumed.

“For those asking us about a PC version of Code Violet… the reason we are not bringing it to PC is we do not want anyone modding vulgar versions of the main character as well as other characters in the game,” TeamKill Media revealed on Twitter.

“We hold our voice actresses and actors with high regard, as well as our artistic vision for the game and story and reject any form of destroying that with sexual mods… Making a joke out of our art and possibly tarnishing the reputation of our voice actresses and actors is not worth the extra money we can make.”

As for why it’s not coming to Xbox Series S/X, the team clarified that they “don’t have the time or expertise to devote to the Xbox platform at this point in time.”

Code Violet is set to release sometime in June by the sounds of things, so its success (or lack thereof) will be a good indicator of whether or not it’ll get an Xbox port down the line.
