Resident Evil 9 rumours claim that the ever-popular Jill Valentine is returning, and fans are quietly optimistic about that prospect.
Last year, Capcom announced that it was already working on the next entry in its legendary Resident Evil series, but at that time and even now, we have no official details on the game, unofficially dubbed “Resident Evil 9”.
Recently, fans believed that they may have noticed a Resident Evil 9 tease by Capcom in a video thanking fans for the 2023 Resident Evil 4 remake achieving over 10 million sales worldwide.

It’s always hard to believe the many rumours that continue to circulate on social media, and that includes gossip associated with Resident Evil 9.
Depending on what you read, Resident Evil 9 will have Jill Valentine and Leon S. Kennedy as playable characters, which would be a first for the video game series.

However, other rumours claim that Jill Valentine will be the only playable character in Resident Evil 9. So, until Capcom confirms otherwise, we should take all rumours with a pinch of salt.
Reddit user LutusFix believes they have the answers to the rumours. “I can't contain my disgust with so much misinformation about RE9,” they posted on the thread.
“Here are some more details about the game, nothing big but the truth, different from what people have been giving you lately.”
In a lengthy post of bullet-pointed speculation, they claim to have tested Resident Evil 9 during two sessions and said “everything indicates that it is a Jill game about Jill and her mission. Unless I tested a separate part of the game, Leon is not in RE9.”

Of course, this is mere speculation, and if this Reddit user had played Resident Evil 9 featuring no Leon S. Kennedy, that doesn't mean that the ex-RPD cop isn't in the game. LutusFix could very well be telling the truth, but at this point, we don't know for sure.
“Can you tell me about Jill’s animations?” asked biofreak1998. “Like how she’s holding a gun and knife, because the RE3 remake is pretty stiff compared to the RE4 remake.”
“Jill holds the pistol like Leon and Ada in RE4,” replied LutusFix. “Jill takes the knife from her waist and uses it in a defensive position, placing her arm in front of her face.”
“Did you enjoy playing that build? I just want to know what it feels like in terms of gameplay style,” queried WrapRepulsive148.

“I really liked it, the gameplay is responsive and very fluid, it feels a lot like RE2 but has aspects of RE4 in terms of fluidity,” replied LutusFix. “I feel like Jill runs faster than in RE3, but it's more like RE2 than RE4. Very exciting, and the horror atmosphere is very present.”
“Hello! I’ve been following your posts for a while now, but Dusk Golem insists that your claims are absolutely not true. I really hope everything you say is true, though,” stated DampRevil.
At the end of the day, whether it’s LutusFix, Dusk Golem or someone else entirely, all rumours should be considered with a lot of scepticism, no matter how believable.
Hopefully, Capcom will reveal all the Resident Evil juicy details in the coming months, including a release date and gameplay. We’ll keep you posted when that information drops.
