Resident Evil 5 Remake Update Not What We'd Hoped

But it's not all doom and gloom

It is sad news for Resident Evil fans as it seems as though the highly requested Resident Evil 5 remake will not be released anytime soon.

Over the years, Capcom has delivered us plenty of incredible remakes of its beloved Resident Evil series.

However, it seems as though it is not in a rush to develop a Resident Evil 5 remake but not all hope is lost as a Code Veronica remake may still be on the cards.

With rumours surrounding the upcoming Resident Evil remakes taking over social media in recent months, a brand-new leak sheds some light on the situation as it stands.

According to Dusk Golem, who is perhaps the number one leaker when it comes to all things Resident Evil, has revealed that the “RE5 Remake has not been greenlit at this time.”

First released way back in 2009, it is safe to say that Resident Evil 5 deserves a remake but, even if Capcom has been discussing a potential remake, it has not been given the go ahead to begin developing it, if this leak is to be believed.

As it stands, only Resident Evil Requiem and Resident Evil Survival Unit are in development at Capcom.

However, Dusk Golem is feeling more optimistic about the Code Veronica remake, saying, “Code Veronica Remake has been in development since 2022, around 3 years of dev now.

Code Veronica Remake is ahead of schedule due to a very smooth dev cycle though.”

It is definitely disappointing news about Resident Evil 5 and it seems as though fans are taking it badly.

“That’s a shame. Huge missed opportunity…unless they’re remaking the original first,” one user claimed.

However, for user BrockStarCasca, Resident Evil 5 needs more than a simple remake.

“Do we really need to remake RE5?” They asked.

“I personally feel we need to retcon it completely. It didn’t tie up loose ends very well. It would be a great opportunity to open the series up to a better story tangent.”

For now, it seems as though Resident Evil 5 will not be receiving a remake anytime soon but for now, fans can look forward to Resident Evil Requiem and, if the leak is to be believed, Codename Veronica in the future.
