It may not have been officially announced or confirmed but Red Dead Redemption 3 still remains one of the most sought-after sequels in video game history.
The Red Dead franchise, which kicked off back in 2004 with the release of Red Dead Revolver, is considered as one of the best in gaming thanks to Rockstar’s storytelling prowess, attention to detail, and stunning open-worlds.
Since 2004, there have been two other entries: Red Dead Redemption in 2010 and Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018 but its next instalment has yet to be confirmed.
Red Dead Redemption 3's protagonist could be super controversial
This can, of course, be attributed to the fact that Rockstar Games is currently hard at work on development for Grand Theft Auto VI.
However, with GTA VI finally expected to launch on 26 May 2026, could the company then turn its attention to Red Dead Redemption 3?

It remains to be seen but, despite a lack of confirmation, fans are already feeling optimistic about the future of the franchise and have even been discussing who they think would make the perfect protagonist following John Marston and Arthur Morgan.
The discussion kicked off earlier this year on r/reddeadredemption when one fan asked, “If RDR3 ever comes out, what would you want it to be about?
Sadie in Mexico, Charles, Jack, Young Arthur/Hosea or a completely new character?”
It was not long before the responses came flooding in with over 1,000 users eager to share their very own suggestions.

However, there was one suggestion that, although may make sense, would leave a lot of fans hating Rockstar.
“If Rockstar hates us enough, they’ll make us play as young Micah before he met Dutch and the gang,” one user shared.
With Micah being one of the most disliked video game characters of all time, this would definitely be a massive gamble but it seems as though fellow fans do not think it would be a bad idea.
“I always thought a Micah DLC would be cool like you play as him in between 1899 and 1907 and just commit straight up atrocities everywhere then eventually we’d see how him and Dutch reunited,” another user added.

“I second this. Micah DLC would have been absolute f*cking *peak*”, another comment read.
I don’t know about you but I would rather not have to play as Micah Bell but who knows? Maybe Rockstar will be feeling brave if and when it decides to announce Red Dead Redemption 3.
