Red Dead Redemption 2 is, without a doubt best game Rockstar has ever made, for now.
It’s a technical marvel, and it’s even more impressive when you remember it was made for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It hasn’t even been updated with a new-gen version yet.
Despite being a treat on the eyes and a more than worthy successor to the first game, the real reason so many players were enamoured with Red Dead Redemption 2 is its story, even the story the game doesn’t explicitly tell you.
As we all know, Arthur Morgan is a prominent member of the Van Der Linde gang, which obviously disbands towards the end of the game. (Spoilers, I guess.)
While players only join the gang at the end of its tenure, it doesn’t make the break-up feel less impactful, but if you’re interested in learning more about how it started, one of the game’s many secrets will give you a few ideas.

One player called Logoil69 had their “mind blown” when they discovered a scrap of newspaper in Arthur’s room that details his earliest heist.
The story is told from the perspective of an eyewitness who describes three masked men committing the robbery, and it’s pretty clear these men are Arthur, Dutch and Hosea.
The “eldest of the three” is described as a “fine talker” and is believed to be Hosea. Arthur is described as a “big sullen young man”, and finally, Dutch gets a mention as “the boss” who gave the orders.
Logoil6 also drew attention to the quote from Dutch, as during the robbery, he says: “My fine patriotic friends and I are going to relieve you of that gold and introduce a few folks to the benefits of civilisation.”
Those who played the first game may remember that the mission where Dutch finally meets his timely demise is called “The Benefits Of Civilization.”
Logoil6 closed the post by saying, “This game will never cease to amaze me.”
Rockstar Games really went above and beyond with the second Red Dead Redemption game, and hopefully, we get a third later down the line.
The question is how it should be presented? A sequel is pretty much impossible unless it follows Jack Marston, which will take the timeline out of the Wild West time period.
Another prequel could work, especially if it explored the early days of the Van Der Linde gang, but then again, wouldn’t it be nice to explore something entirely new?
If the Red Dead Redemption series is to continue, it’ll probably do so under a new name, with a new story and new characters unconnected to what’s come before.
