'Red Dead Redemption 2' Players Think Rockstar Is Teasing An Expansion

Fans on Reddit are speculating if Rockstar could have something in the works, after it appears that more plants have appeared in the game.

It’s now been over three years since Red Dead Redemption 2 launched, which… isn’t actually that long ago, to be honest. I mean, yeah, 2018 feels like a lifetime ago when you consider everything that’s happened since then, but in the context of a game’s lifespan, you can hardly consider Red Dead a, uh, dead franchise.

That apparently isn’t stopping players over on Reddit from whipping out what are debatably some insane sleuthing skills, or perhaps arguably some high-level hallucinations, in the hopes of discovering…something? Anything? Rockstar, please, these people need content.

Before we go on, be sure to check out some of our favourite Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below.

“Is it just me, or is there suddenly a lot more plant life in Nuevo Paraíso? Just what are you planning, Rockstar?” wrote u/itsKNIGHTMARE. They attached a video overlooking the expanse of land, which certainly does seem to look a fair bit greener than usual.

There had already been some talk amongst the fanbase of more assets appearing in the area, which, combined with the video, would certainly seem to hold true: “Apparently the rumours were true. I breached into Mexico before and there wasn’t nearly this much detail with the foliage [if I recall correctly]. There also weren’t any palm trees,” added itsKNIGHTMARE.

So then, what is it that a few more plants could actually mean? Users in the thread have been speculating if it could suggest something new is on the way. Or not: “Probably gonna be for online,” commented Samford_. "Not single player DLC that’s for sure,” said YoItsNoah. User work2oakzz added what’s likely the most probable option: “Spoiler Alert: Nothing.”

Obviously, as of now, we’ve heard precisely nothing from Rockstar Games about this, and let’s face it, that’s probably not going to change over some people on Reddit looking suspiciously at trees. Let’s not forget that it was a rather chunky eight year wait between the first two games, so it’s very unlikely we can expect a whole new instalment anytime soon, although that is apparently happening at some point. Just, hold onto your yeehaws for now.
