Pokémon fans getting extra-special free download

Get it while it's hot

Pokémon fans are getting an awesome freebie for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, based on a competitive player’s most powerful ‘mon.

The Pokémon competition scene is outrageous at the moment, with one of its best players, Wolfe Glick, being damn near undefeatable.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A comes out this year though, bringing a new battle system with it as well as Mega Evolutions back into the mix

Glick recently won another competition with his trusted Incineroar, the Europe International Championships in February, and as a special giveaway you too will be able to have your own Incineroar modelled after the one used in the tournament.

The Pokémon North America International Championship will begin distributing codes containing the elite ‘mon, and while it doesn’t look any different from your average Incineroar the difference will be in its stats, making it a powerful addition to your team if you train it right.

Pokémon fans were excited, with one replying “The best running joke, at last, became reality” to the news.

“INCINEGOAT SAYS WINNING” added another, and one more said “WOLFEY'S INCINEROAR IS REAL.”

The distribution will begin during the next Championship stream, on 15 June 2025 so mark your calendars if you want one.

It’ll be interesting to see how the meta developers when Pokémon Legends: Z-A comes out, as despite being another entry in the spin-off Legends series it’s looking more like a traditional Pokémon game in terms of setting and mechanics.

The Mega Evolutions returning is also fantastic news, and hopefully that’ll really shake up the competitive scene if they’re allowed.

Even if they’re not though, it’s nice to see them back into the fray especially with how cool some of the designs for them are.

We’ll have to wait and see anyway, because we still have a few months left to wait before Pokémon Legends: Z-A arrives on our shiny new Nintendo platforms.
