Pokémon fans are already spoiled with the many games in the mainline franchise, as well as the spin-offs that have emerged over the years.
However, if you’re after more Pokémon fun, you can dive into the world of ROM hacks, which takes legally obtained ROMs of retro Pokémon games, and spins them into brand-new adventures.
The next big Pokémon game will be Legends Z-A for the Switch and Switch 2.

Pokémon Emerald Seaglass is one such game, which means it needs to be played on an emulator, but that isn’t stopping fans enjoying one of the best adventures for years.
Over on Reddit, players are enthusing over the game, celebrating it as a journey back to what made Pokémon brilliant in the first place.
“I loved Emerald Seaglass. There's so much care put into it just oozing through the screen, the modernisation of move sets and added Pokémon diversity and tweaks are great. I really can't praise it enough,” said DeGenZGZ in their thread.
“In short, this was awesome,” they continued.

The fan-made game shakes up old Pokémon with new types, adds in a new story, and much more.
This has many fans excited as it takes us back to the old days of the series.

Of course, not everyone will have access to legal ROMs of Pokémon Emerald, which are needed to play the game.
Many long-time fans of the franchise are enjoying the chance to play more games within the world they love, with all their favourite characters and Pokémon appearing.
