Pokémon Emerald fans, rejoice– as The Pokémon Company and Nintendo are teaming up to bring you a limited-time freebie that is available right this second!

As revealed by the official Pokémon Twitter account last night, a 5-star Tera Raid Battle can now be tackled in both Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that, once completed, will earn you a shiny Rayquaza.

Now before you get ahead of yourself, be warned; 5-star Tera Raid Battles are no joke.

Anyone who has tried to tackle one of these without the help of some highly capable teammates will already know exactly what I mean by this, as even non-legendary Pokémon can absolutely sweep your entire team during a 5-star Tera Raid Battle.

Obviously when it comes to a legendary Pokémon, especially one like Rayquaza, this is doubly true, so don’t be surprised if you have to queue a few times before you find the right squad that can guide you to victory.

To make matters worse, this is a time-limited event. You only have until January 5th to complete the 5-star Rayquaza Tera Raid Battle, at which point your chance of bagging a guaranteed shiny Rayquaza will be lost forever.

If you’re strapped for time and unable to retry the event several times, I highly suggest checking out this guide from YouTuber PKMNcast which was specifically made for the 5-star Rayquaza Tera Raid event.

Going in with the right Pokémon the first time will undoubtedly save you a bunch of time overall, as some Tera Raid Battles can take upwards of 15 minutes to finish.

On the plus side, if you can’t be bothered finding folks to play with, there is always the non-shiny Rayquaza you can get from The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC.

But c’mon, nobody is gonna be impressed by your lame green lizard when could be using this bad boy instead.
