The Legend Of Zelda fans surprised with free Switch download

Nintendo has just revealed that some brand new, free The Legend of Zelda content is coming to the Nintendo Switch on December 20, so I hope you’re in the mood for some puzzling gameplay this Christmas.

As announced on the official Nintendo UK Twitter account, a new theme based on The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will be coming to Tetris 99 at the end of this week– but you’re gonna have to work for it if you want it.

To unlock the new theme forever, you’ll have to “compete in online battles" and "collect at least 100 event points to unlock the The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom theme in Tetris 99 permanently."

To make matters worse, the event is only running from the 20th to the 24th of December so you’ll only have four days to grind online battles in an attempt to earn enough points.

So how feasible will this actually be to unlock? Well, that depends on how good you are at Tetris.

If you get first place in any Tetris 99 online battle during the event, you’ll earn the 100 points required to unlock the Echoes of Wisdom theme in one go.

That would of course require you to beat 98 other players though, which is easier said than done. A lot of folks take Tetris very, very seriously.

However, even landing in the top 90 during any online battle will earn you 10 points. As long as you're better than at least 10% of the Tetris 99 player base, you could comfortably earn the theme by playing through 10 battles.

Just make sure you set some time aside if you’re super keen to earn the Echoes of Wisdom theme though, as the trailer implies that this event might be the only time it’s attainable.
