Zelda fans amazed by new 4K remaster you can play now

Why won't Nintendo do this?

Zelda fans rejoice, as one of the best games in the series has been made even better thanks to a 4K remaster you can see in action right now.

The Zelda games are some of Nintendo’s best, which makes it absolutely criminal they haven’t been packaged into some sort of Nintendo Switch collection yet.

Zelda: Wind Waker is begging for a Nintendo Switch port.

One game that fans are eager to see get a Nintendo Switch port is The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker, a nautical adventure that sees Links set sail to once again save the Kingdom of Hyrule from Ganondorf.

It first released on the Nintendo GameCube, and while the cartoonish visuals weren’t appreciated at first, it quickly became a fan-favourite, earning itself a Wii U HD remake.

The game now looks even better thanks to a 4K remaster created by a fan, and other fans are eating it up.

You can see the remaster in action on YouTube, and some impressive work has gone into modernising the GameCube graphics.

“Why does this amazing trailer give off the same vibes from when I saw that first Wind Waker teaser video as a kid?” said one fan, which is a mighty fine compliment if I’ve ever seen one.

“Such a great in between for the original and the HD remaster. Killed it,” added another commenter.

Finally, one fan said, “Really great job on this. Looks like Wind Waker HD with the bloom turned off.”

The Wii U version of the game still looks better, and why wouldn’t it given that it was made by Nintendo itself, but I still think this enhanced GameCube version looks fantastic too.

Perhaps if Nintendo does decide to bring the game to Nintendo Switch, it could give us the option of playing both versions? Giving players control over which graphics they’d prefer to play with would be pretty nice.

If you want to emulate the results of this fan project, simply head to the YouTube video's description to find a modlist.
