Select PlayStation Plus Subscribers Are Getting A Bonus PS4 Game, And It's A Banger

Here we go again

The free PlayStation Plus games for December 2021 were announced earlier this week, and I'm sure you'll be shocked to discover they don't seem to have gone down brilliantly with fans.

While there's been a good amount of love for the two PS4 freebies, LEGO DC Super Villains and Mortal Shell, the real problem child of this month's lineup is Godfall: Challenger Edition.

Fans quickly noticed that this, um, "special" version of the PlayStation 5 launch title isn't actually the full version of the game. Instead, players will get access to three modes and a handful of endgame content, with the option to upgrade to the full version. Unsurprisingly, a lot of subscribers think this was more than a little cheeky.

"Don’t download it, don’t even add it to your library," urged one user. "Sony needs to know how terrible it is that they included a glorified demo as the headline PS Plus game for the month. It’s one thing to include a game that people consider bad, it’s another thing to include an incomplete experience and think it’s ok."

The good news is that certain PS Plus users can download a certified banger of an extra game in December. The bad news is that the offer is once again restricted to Asia.

As pointed out by a disappointed fan on Reddit, PS Plus subscribers in Asia can get all three of the aforementioned games, and the wonderful Yakuza spinoff Judgment. That's a big win.

Of course, all it really does for those of us not in Asia is make the available PS Plus games look even worse. Oops. But who knows? Given the hugely backlash to Godfall so far, this could well be one of the rare occasions that Sony makes a last minute change to the lineup. We'll have to wait and see.
