PlayStation Plus drops new free games, available to download now

There's some absolute bangers.

Roll up, roll up - it’s PlayStation Plus freebie time, my dudes. I hope that you’re ready to be swamped by a bunch of new free games, because subscribers can get their hands on some real treats right now.

It’s fair to say that PlayStation Plus’ Essential tier has had some ups and downs this year - although Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Sackboy: A Big Adventure were brilliant offerings, many subscribers slated May 2023’s selection (which consisted of Chivalry 2, Grid: Legends and Descenders) as “the worst month by far”. Ouch.

Take a look at the trailer for Alan Wake Remastered below.

Thankfully, the free Essential-tier games for July 2023 are all absolute bangers. In case you missed the announcement last week, subscribers can dig into Alan Wake Remastered, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Endling - Extinction is Forever right now. Completionists can expect to spend over 100 hours grabbing all of the trophies for these three, so it’s a great value month in that regard.

All three games are exciting in their own ways, but the inclusion of Alan Wake Remastered might be the best of all, given that its highly anticipated sequel is set to release on 17 October. If you’re yet to play the game that started it all, now’s the perfect time to give it a go ahead of Alan Wake II’s launch.

Meanwhile, those subscribed to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium have hundreds more games to be going at right now. Between the two game libraries, subscribers can get their hands on a whopping total of 453 games right now, although it’s worth noting that 10 of those (including the popular kitty adventure game, Stray) will be leaving the service on 18 July, so make the most of those while you can.

Sony has yet to confirm what additional games will be landing for PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers this month, so we’ll just have to stay tuned for those.
