Congratulations, I guess.

Despite being one of the most divisive video games of this generation, it would seem that more people have completed The Last Of Us Part II than any other PlayStation exclusive to date. That's a genuine testament to the strength of the story Naughty Dog told, even if the game arguably went on for at least two hours longer than it needed to. And by arguably I mean it definitely did.

Still, a longer-than-necessary campaign and a controversial plot clearly did little to prevent The Last Of Us Part II from claiming such an impressive accolade. As spotted thanks to data pointed out by Ungeek, 58% of players have obtained the What I Had To Do trophy - that's the trophy you get for beating the game, if you hadn't already worked that out.

While you might think that 58% is a rather low number, it's not that surprising. A lot of gamers do tend to tear through a game's story in several sittings, but there are more casual players out there who either don't get round to finishing things, or take a lot longer to do so. To be fair to these kinds of gamers, The Last Of Us Part II has an incredibly long and gruelling campaign - some people will just get bored and move on.

The Last Of Us Part II's 58% completion rate is still well ahead of its brother and sisters, too. Final Fantasy VII Remake has been beaten by just over 53% of players, and that's second place. To be completely honest, I'm impressed that many people managed to sit through the entirety of FFVII Remake. it has some great moments, but it doesn't half feel like a slog at times.

What really surprises me are the lower completion rates for God Of War and Marvel's Spider-Man. According to trophy data, they have a 51.8% and 50.7% completion rate respectively. God Of War is maybe a little lengthy I guess, but Marvel's Spider-Man is a pretty lean story if you cut out all the open-world busywork.

Of course it really doesn't matter whether or not you complete a game. As long as you feel you've gotten everything you wanted from the experience, that's the important thing. But if you do own Marvel's Spider-Man and have yet to finish it off... I'm begging you: the ending is really, really good.
