'Marvel's Spider-Man' Player Accidentally Uncovers Iconic Black Suit

Intriguing indeed.

In Marvel's Spider-Man, someone has managed to glitch into something that looks suspiciously like a black symbiote suit for the friendly neighbourhood hero, suggesting that this costume was intended to be included in the game.

The range of suits that the player is able to collect in Marvel's Spider-Man is nothing short of spectacular. Though it might not be comparable to the moreish combat mechanics or the breathtaking experience of swinging from skyscraper to skyscraper, this customisation aspect lets you embody some of the most famous portrayals of the character. There's the Iron Spider Suit, Spider-Man 2099 Black Suit, Stark Suit, Vintage Comic Book Suit (easily my favourite) and even the Amazing Suit which was added ahead of the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

While gallivanting about New York City one day, Reddit user Lovekiller745 unlocked a suit that we've never seen before. A glitch in the menu screen for Marvel's Spider-Man showed Peter Parker in a black costume with ridged threads following down the arms to a pair of reinforced gloves. That's not even mentioning the white visors over his eyes and the white spider symbol on his chest.

You've already got the song in your head, haven't you? Use that adrenaline momentum for the reveal trailer of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, featuring two notorious villains.

Of course, this suit wasn't meant to make it into the finished game because only half of the suit is present in the glitch. However, it hints that Insomniac Games had an idea to include the black symbiote suit, then possibly changed course to save that concept for the sequel. Tony Todd, who is playing Venom, is as pleased as punch to portray the terrifying antagonist and added that the game is going to be "massive."

Naturally, that's about as much as we've learned about Marvel's Spider-Man 2 since Sony is unhurried to show its hand with one of its most successful (and anticipated) properties. However, Marvel Games boss Bill Rosemann was able to shed a little light on the subject following the reveal trailer. "There are a lot of threads, a lot of characters that were in the first two games that you'll see again," he hinted. "If the first Spider-Man game was Star Wars, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is kind of our Empire Strikes Back. It gets darker." Uh oh.
