Xbox Game Pass subscribers have been blessed with two fantastic Electronic Arts games, provided you’re subbed to the right tier.
It really doesn’t get much better than The Sims and The Sims 2, two games that need no introduction but they’ll get one anyway.
Perfecting the life-sim genre The Sims series has long been the gold-standard when it comes to crafting NPCs and watching them live out their lives, either giving them a hand along the way or making them miserable for a laugh.
If you’ve never played these bangers though, now's the perfect time to do so, as they’ve seemingly been shadow dropped on Xbox Game Pass.

With no fanfare the games have simply appeared in the Xbox store for PC only, and they’re playable at no additional cost if you have a valid subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is the highest and most-expensive tier you can subscribe to - it not only includes a growing library of games but also some bonus perks.
One such perk is access to EA Play, which is how you’ll be able to download and play these Sims games.

But what are Sims games without DLC? The series is renowned for releasing content pack after content pack and while they’re not all bangers most of them at least add something of value.
Both The Sims and The Sims 2 will include some of their downloadable content. It doesn’t look like everything will be included but it’ll at least have some of the essentials.
Plenty of content to get you started if you’ve never played, and plenty to get you invested again if you’re a returning player.
Weirdly though these games aren’t appearing in the store for everybody, possibly because they’re due an official announcement either later today or sometime this week.
They are there though and if you have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or a separate subscription to EA Play you should be able to download them.
Perfect if you're waiting for The Sims 5
If you’ve been following the series you’ll know another mainline Sims game is currently in development, but updates have been few and far between.
There’s been quite a bit of drama surrounding it too as an acquisition at Electronic Arts has many worried that the next game will lack representation, and be even more egregious when it comes to its DLCs. The Sims 4 is a good example of when expansion goes too far in my opinion. Still, enjoy The Sims 1 and 2 for no extra cost!
