A surprise free download is available on Xbox Series X/S and now fans have their nostalgic juices flowing, many are eager for a triumphant return.

When the Xbox 360 was released in 2005, it instantly became regarded as one of the best consoles of all time, despite its 2001 predecessor helping to establish Microsoft as a big player in the console market.

Check out the Halo 3 trailer below!

The Xbox 360 was inspirational in so many ways with its easy access to online multiplayer, its delivery of digital games and not to mention that it brought us some of the greatest video games ever such as Halo 3, Gears of War and Dead Rising to name a few.

The beloved console also had some creative and popular user interfaces, perhaps none more so than the blades which allowed users to swipe through Xbox 360 content such as games, streaming apps, system information and much more with ease.

It’s unlikely that Microsoft would ever revert to the blades (at least officially) as Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One users have gotten very used to the current tiled user interface, but whichever design you prefer is a personal preference.

However, to give fans a heavy dose of nostalgia, you can download a blades-inspired theme for your Xbox Series X/S dashboard for free right now, as shared in a tweet by senior editor at The Verge, Tom Warren.

As you might expect, Xbox 360 fans have responded with positive vibes for the latest free dynamic theme download. “Bringing back a functioning blade GUI system would be epic,” replied DamagedSector and TonkaDumptruck added: “Love it”

“I use the iconic "OG Xbox" dynamic background. Man I love that one, I will be buying a Duke controller as well. But they are so hard to find,” exclaimed NFLComedySkits.

We can’t wait to see what free dynamic themes Microsoft blesses us with next, perhaps some inspired by upcoming games including Gears of War: E-Day and Fable, I’ll be having my fingers crossed.
