Development on the next Xbox console is reportedly kicking off soon, hopefully making some big changes to hardware we currently have.

Xbox is in such a weird place right now, and I say that has someone who’s primarily played on Xbox consoles since he was like 6 years old.

The main issue is first-party software, though there are some bangers like Doom: The Dark Ages on the way so that’s a positive

Many have taken issue with Xbox allowing more and more of its first-party titles to appear on PlayStation and Nintendo platforms, and while I have no issue with it personally I can understand why it might rub people the wrong way.

There have also been very few hardware improvements compared to PlayStation, which has the DualSense controllers and built-in console features the Xbox Series X/S is lacking.

Perhaps the tide will turn soon though and Jez Corden reckons the first pitches for the next Xbox console have been approved.

Corden recently stated in a WindowsCentral article: “I've recently been told that Xbox's next-gen console hardware has now moved past its early pitch stages and has been fully approved and costed all the way up the chain.”

He continued: “I doubt we'll see a reveal of their hardware strategy any time soon, but what is perhaps more interesting to me is how Xbox will seek to entice developers to support its efforts on PC.

Of course we’re not going to hear anything official from Xbox on the matter for a while, but it’s nice to know the next-generation is on the way.

That said, I'm sure there are many out there who feel the current generation has hardly begun, with very few games truly pushing the boundary of the hardware we currently have.

Seems doubtful that’ll change either as while the next Xbox or PlayStation consoles will likely be more powerful, most games will probably be made with the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 in mind too.
