It’s a big month for Xbox hardware news, as apparently some new hardware is on the way very soon according to leakers.
It makes a nice change of pace considering there have been similar leaks recently that suggest Xbox has canned its planned handheld console.
The handheld, which sounded pretty much like a Steam Deck, has been shelved for the time being as it focuses all of its efforts on its new, next-gen home console.

On the topic of that next-gen console, details on that have reportedly leaked too, including what it’s supposedly called.
In more recent news though, leakers have claimed Xbox does have some new hardware in mind to release soon, another Elite Controller.
The Elite Controllers offer an enhanced gaming experience with customisable widgets and an overall more premium feel. I’ve never owned one, but I’ve heard they’re decent.
Named Xbox Elite Series 3, the controller will be a simple revision of the models that came before it, but with improved quality in the triggers, buttons etc.

While I’m sure they’re fantastic, a negative I often hear about the Elite controllers is the price and what happens when they develop a fault. After all, stick drift is still an issue with modern day controllers and you can understand why someone wouldn’t want to spend +£100 on a controller that might not work in six months.
Another issue is that despite all these improvements to the Xbox controllers, it still feels like they lag behind the PlayStation 5 DualSense, which has a premium feel as well as a suite of other features, like haptic feedback, speakers and more.
The leakers have said the new Xbox controllers will be revealed during the upcoming Xbox Showcase, which will run alongside this year’s Summer Game Fest event in Los Angeles. Time will tell.
