Xbox’s next-gen console is currently in development, releasing God knows when, yet it’s already getting roasted online.
You could argue that it's too soon to be talking about the next generation of home consoles but it’s really not… The Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 came out years ago.
The reason it feels too soon is because it doesn’t feel like the games have caught up to the hardware yet.

Either way, it’s not stopping Xbox from pouring all of its resources into the next console, and the rumoured name is already leaving fans in stitches.
The Xbox One, the Xbox One X, the Xbox Series X, all terrible, terrible names for new hardware but this one takes the cake…
According to leaker Ghost Of Hope, Xbox’s next console is currently called Xbox Prime, which might be the worst name it’s come up with so far.
Now to be fair though, it could just be a codename, we won’t know for sure until it’s announced but knowing Xbox, its real name will probably be just as stupid. Maybe it’s finally time to play into the meme and make the Xbox 720 a thing.

Regardless, fans found it funny with several responding to the rumour on Reddit saying things like, "Microsoft is actually stupid enough to do something like this.”
Another added, “I'm expecting the Xbox Prime is just a codename just like Xbox Scarlett, the actual console name will be something like: Xbox X Series XX.”
Others think the name actually makes sense given some of the recent marketing, saying, “You can play Xbox everywhere but this is the Xbox Prime.”
Xbox does have a showcase coming up this weekend to tie into Summer Game Fest but I doubt we’ll hear anything about the new console, and probably won’t until next year at the earliest.
