Xbox leaked update is the one we’ve waited years to see

It's about time

At long last, Microsoft is set to add a highly-requested feature to its Xbox consoles according to a recent insider leak.

According to Youtuber and industry insider eXtas1s, Microsoft is set to begin plans to integrate Steam within the Microsoft Store.

In the meantime, check out the current-gen Xbox consoles in the trailer below!

Ultimately, this will allow Xbox Series X/S users to access the primarily PC storefront via their consoles, opening up a larger library of games.

Not only that but the integration is expected to be tested on current-gen consoles in the hopes that it will become a day-one feature for next-gen Xbox units.

The Youtuber recently took to his channel to share the news, and although the video is in Spanish, it has been translated to say the following:

“Xbox + Steam are heading into the next generation, but steps are already being taken as Microsoft has just added the Steam application to the support software for its devices, appearing under the name of Steam Developer Beta.

This, of course, is currently only available to certain employees and people who collaborate with Microsoft to provide support or develop certain things.”

He goes on to explain that Microsoft aims to “facilitate coexistence and cooperation between its Xbox ecosystem and the gigantic PC platform that is Steam”.

“I've been telling you that the next generation of Xbox is going to be more like a PC than a console. Everything is going to be developed around PC environments,” he continues.

Last but not least and according to eXtas1s, sources have informed him that testing for Steam integration has already begun so if true, we could see the update rolled out later this year.

This news is worth taking with a pinch of salt as it has not yet been confirmed by Microsoft or Valve but it will definitely be a well-appreciated feature for Xbox users.
