Xbox gamers are getting four free games they can play for free this weekend, none of which require Xbox Game Pass.
While Xbox has been going through a rough time as of late especially with the new Steam Machine potentially throwing a spanner in the works for its PC/console hybrid, Xbox gamers are still being rewarded for their loyalty.
This weekend you can play the following four games for free without the need for a membership, even if those games are online multiplayer titles.
Let’s get the big one out of the way shall we. Grand Theft Auto Online. I don’t know who wouldn’t own GTA V in the big 2025 but if you wouldn’t call yourself a fan of Grand Theft Auto but have been hyped up by the latest GTA VI news now is your chance to jump in for the first time.

Despite being reliant on online multiplayer you can try GTA: Online out without even the basic tier of Xbox Game Pass, which is a pretty sweet deal.

Next is Soccer Story, a game about the decline of football when an evil corporation closes every stadium and essentially bans the sport. Fortunately a magical football descends from the heavens to help you put things right. It’s no Rematch, but it’s worth checking out.
Then we have Rubber Bandits, a party game that has players compete in arenas to gather as much cash and valuables as possible to win. You can slap your opponents around to put them off their game and if you like it it’s currently on sale for the price of a coffee.
Finally we have Wreckfest, which is one for the racing fans. With “true-to-life physics simulation” players will compete in death-defying races that’ll have you scraping metal and chipping away massive chunks off your own and your opponent’s cars.
Those are your four games, though there is a fifth one worth mentioning. Technically Train Sim World® 6: Standard Edition is part of this weekend’s free-to-play line-up but the reason it’s not part of the above list is because it unfortunately does require Xbox Game Pass.
That said, if you're already subscribed anyway, Train Sim World® 6: Standard Edition will be just another game you can play as we head into next week.
While it’s not the most impressive line-up we’ve seen, GTA: Online is an excellent addition, especially after the GTA VI delay dismay.
