Unsure of what to play next on Xbox? Worry not, the console’s storefront has you covered.

You see, it’s full of hundreds of free demos.

It’s more important than ever to try before you buy, as none of us want to splash the cash on a disappointment.

That’s easy to do over on the Xbox Store so today, I’m here to highlight five games you can try for free this weekend.

You never know, by Monday morning, there may be one you want to pick up in full.

Let’s kick off with The Smurfs: Dreams, a platformer that - having played the demo - I’d describe as something akin to Super Mario 3D World.

You really shouldn’t discredit this one as a children's game just because the Smurfs are involved.

Take a look at the demo’s trailer below.

Looking for an epic RPG? Metaphor ReFantazio has taken the world by storm, garnering a score of 93 over on Metacritic.

In our review, GAMINGbible’s Dan wrote, “Metaphor ReFantazio is another truly amazing game from a developer who rarely puts a foot wrong. Everything from the recognisable mechanics to the broad variety of themes marks this experience as one I’ll remember for years to come.”

If there are any puzzle fans here, Paper Trail is easily one of my favourite games of the year.

In this wholesome indie debut, you’ll be whisked away on a coming-of-age adventure which you can only progress through by solving origami puzzles.

It’s a game I really hope more people try out.

RPG fans might also enjoy checking out Visions of Mana.

You don’t need to have played any Mana games before, with this instalment acting as a perfect start for newcomers.

In our review, GAMINGbible’s Ewan said, “Visions Of Mana is ultimately further proof, as if any more were needed, that when it comes to making quality RPGs, Square Enix remains best in class. This is an epic, heartfelt adventure with a memorable cast of characters set in a stunning world with consistently engaging combat and lots of fun ideas.”

Let’s finish off with one for you action-adventure fans.

The Inquisitor is a story-driven dark fantasy adventure that sees you take on the role of Mordimer Madderdin, an Inquisitor in God’s service.

In this timeline, Jesus survives being nailed to the cross and is subsequently driven by rage.

It’s up to you to, despite this, maintain the faith among the people as dark powers mess with the land’s sense of equilibrium.

If none of these are up your alley, simply browse for something that is.
