Before we enter a pivotal stage in the next wave of console wars, Xbox is changing the way it operates to ensure that it can compete with its blue rivals.
Having fallen behind PlayStation in the last two generations of hardware releases, a shift in leadership has given Xbox the green light to reignite console wars under CEO Asha Sharma.
That being said, there is a lot of work to do, as Microsoft has announced that all of its hard work hasn't been without losses and now its in-house studios are preparing for a 'bloodbath' of layoffs.
It's a bittersweet moment for Xbox fans, but the new era is upon us, and it is all in a bid to usurp PlayStation.

One of its major punches thrown at Sony comes in the way of exclusive games. It's an area that PlayStation has always led in, and is strengthening every year, but Xbox is now bringing back its platform-only games, and a new feature on its consoles suggests that many more will be announced in the near future.
Having kick-started a new wave of exclusive games, beginning with Gears of War: E-Day, Xbox is going all-out to show that it is back on the map when it comes to platform-only games.
So much so that it has added a new feature to its marketplace on the Series X|S, which highlights that it is only available on this console.
Spotted by a string of Xbox users, Gears of War: E-Day now has an 'Exclusive' tag on it in the store.

The feature is a bit on-the-nose, if you ask me, almost like a desperate attempt to show fans that Xbox still produces games. of its own.
Still, it shows intent.
It even suggests that Xbox will be holding more games away from its competitors. We know Gears of War: E-Day will be joined by Clockwork Revolution and State of Decay 3, and who knows what will happen to the next instalments of The Elder Scrolls and Fallout series (if they ever come).
But, while PlayStation boasts a portfolio of series like Ghost of Tsushima, Marvel's Spider-Man, God of War, and The Last of Us, there's clearly a lot of catching up to do.
Especially as Xbox waivered in its exclusivity barriers in recent years, opening its doors to the Forza universe while tearing down its gate for Grounded, Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, and Sea of Thieves, all of which got PlayStation ports. That energy wasn't reciprocated by Sony, though.
Given that Xbox is set to undercut PlayStation with its next-gen console price, this main character energy and aura might just be what Microsoft needs to paint the town green.
