Halo Players Thrilled With Free Battle Royale Announcement

This looks epic!

Halo fans are thrilled with a free battle royale mode that’s available to play right now.

One of the intended plans for 2021’s Halo Infinite was to have a free-to-play battle royale mode. Sadly, that mode was scrapped with the developers' focus at Halo Studios on the more traditional free-to-play multiplayer offering.

We have no idea whether or not the Halo Infinite battle royale would have been any good. My gut instinct is that it may have flopped, especially with Halo Infinite not launching in the best state. That being said, it could have been a huge success, but we’ll never know for sure.

However, one of the best modes in Halo Infinite is Forge, a creative suite that originally made its debut in 2007 with Halo 3.

Halo 3’s Forge allowed players to create their own maps, sometimes inspired by old-school maps and some new ones, as well as custom modes. Over the years, Forge has evolved a lot, and it’s arguably no more impressive than it is right now in Halo Infinite.

Perhaps one of the best community creations available right now in Halo Infinite’s Forge is the newly released battle royale, created by the talented Skisma. I just watched the trailer, and it looks awesome.

“Years in the making, I've poured my heart and soul into this project! Halo community, I need your help to blow this up,” tweeted Skisma. It’s fair to say that the community is indeed blowing it up.

Sure, the launch trailer on YouTube has quite a modest 7,500 views at the time of writing, but hopefully that number will receive a boost in the coming days.

“The day has finally come! From 2022 to 2025, you’ve dedicated three years to creating an awesome experience for Halo fans,” replied Rebs Gaming. “This is an epic example of hard work and patience. Congrats, Skisma and well done!”

“The passion here is incredible! Cheers to you, man, for getting this all put together,” said Prim27. “Can't wait to check this out with the guys.”

For those who may be wondering, this free battle royale is not only playable on PC but also on Xbox. In the replies to the original tweet, Skisma has left some very handy QR codes that will lead you to direct links.

Hopefully, if I can find some time in the coming days, I’d love to check out this battle royale for myself.

The Halo Infinite story campaign is out now and is available at no extra cost with Xbox Game Pass. As for its multiplayer, that’s free for all, with or without an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
