It is the end of an era as Imane “Pokimane” Anys announces she will be leaving Twitch after becoming one of the most popular streamers during her 10-year stint.

Beginning her streaming journey back in 2012 and arriving on Twitch in 2014, Pokimane has gone on to become one of the platform's highest-earning contributors after hitting an impressive 9.3 million followers in the last decade.

However, Pokimane took to Twitter on 30 January to announce she will be leaving the Amazon-owned platform, calling it “the end of an era”. Alongside the Tweet, she shared a screenshot of the Twitch app found on the Apple store and with her face used in the marketing campaign. It speaks volumes on how influential she was to the site.

“The end of an era,” she wrote. “Twitch has been my home for a decade.. but it's time to say thank you for all the memories and love during my League, Fortnite, & Among Us days.”

As you can imagine, messages soon came pouring in with the official Twitch account taking the time to send their love. “What an incredible journey it’s been. We’re so proud of everything you’ve accomplished and what’s ahead in the future. You’ll always have a home on Twitch, Poki.”

Pokimane is yet to reveal what her next steps will be. However, fans may have seen this coming over some time as the streamer said Twitch wasn’t “creatively fulfilling” anymore back in September 2022 and that she would like to turn her attention to other platforms such as Instagram and TikTok.

Since the news broke, rumours have begun swirling over Pokimane’s future including the news that she may have signed a $75 million dollar streaming deal with rival streaming platform, Kick. If this is true, she will join the likes of xQc and Amouranth in making the move. However, this is yet to be confirmed.
