If you’re looking for an unexpected gem that’s kind of like what would happen if Valheim, Stardew Valley and The Legend of Zelda had a baby, then you’re in the right place.

Actually, sorry about that. I didn't mean to implant that weird scenario in your head, but I think you understand the point I so disturbingly tried to make, especially if you’re after an underrated RPG that you can pick up from Steam today.

Check out the Necesse trailer below!

As given away by the trailer above, the underrated (at least in the mainstream) game in question is the indie RPG Necesse, developed and published by Fair Games ApS.

By the looks of its trailer, Necesse looks to have the crafting of Valheim, as well as the visual charm of Stardew Valley and the classic versions of The Legend of Zelda. A lot of the Steam user reviewers have also compared this game to Terraria.

“Build, quest, and conquer across an infinite procedurally generated world,” reads the synopsis on Steam. “Play alone or with friends as you establish a settlement and explore deep dungeons, fight monsters and bosses, mine rare ores, craft magical equipment, recruit specialists for your colony and more!”

Granted, Necesse initially launched on the PC platform in 2019 but it’s never too late to discover an underrated gem such as this one. Furthermore, with over 13,500 user reviews, it has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam so it's certainly worth your while.

“10/10,” said Nightman.

“I was amazed by the depth and thus very surprised by the complexity of the game,” wrote Lotgenoot.

“It’s really fun, almost like Terraria but better,” exclaimed Noobuh.

Better still, if you do decide to take a chance on Necesse, it’s currently discounted on Steam by 35%, bringing the price down to a very modest £8.44 from its usual price of £12.99.

There’s even a discount on a bundle which includes the official soundtrack of Necesse, if that tickles your fancy.
