If you’re a fan of Valheim and Animal Crossing, you might want to check out this game for free, which is becoming an unexpected viral hit.
When it comes to popular crafting games, with two different presentations entirely, it doesn't get much better than Valheim and the long-running Nintendo franchise Animal Crossing.
The Animal Crossing series made its debut on the Nintendo GameCube in 2001, and it’s gone from strength to strength ever since. Also, players have been getting into debt with the loan shark charlatan that is Tom Nook.
Trust me, Tom Nook looks trustworthy, but he’s been tricking gamers into his never-ending loop of debt, selling the dream of building your own tropical island for decades. He must be a billionaire at this point.

Untrustworthy Tom Nook aside, there’s no denying that crafting resources, interacting with NPCs, and partaking in quests, all in the name of creating a dream island to share with other players online will never get tiresome.
What’s more, its most recent game in the series, Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Nintendo Switch, has been credited for helping millions of gamers get through the COVID-19 pandemic during a time of mass isolation across the world.
As for Valheim, this is a survival crafting MMORPG inspired by Norse mythology. Developed by Iron Gate Studio, since its launch in 2021, it has continued to be one of the most popular games in its genre on both PC and Xbox.
For those PlayStation gamers who might have missed what all the fuss is about, fear not, because Valheim is coming to PS5 sometime in 2026. We’ll keep you posted when its release date is announced.

So, what is this new viral game that is taking Steam by storm, I hear you ask? As reported by GamesRader, the game in question is the indie title Outbound, developed and published by Square Glade Games.
“Build your own home on wheels and live sustainably off-grid. Craft workstations and power supplies, source energy from the sun, wind, or water, upgrade and customise your vehicle, grow crops, and explore a colourful world with up to four players,” reads the description of the game on Steam.
GamesRadar reports that Outbound is on the wishlist of one million Steam users ahead of its launch next year. At the time of writing, it’s placed 23rd in the wishlist charts.

The gameplay trailers for Outbound certainly give the impression that it’s not only a fun game with charming visuals, but its gameplay mechanics look to be quite in-depth.
If Outbound looks like it might be your cup of tea, then you might be pleased to know that it has a free playable demo on Steam right now.
Outbound doesn't have a confirmed release date just yet, but it is intended to launch sometime early next year. Be sure to wishlist it on Steam to be notified when that release date drops. Outbound will also be coming to PlayStation and Xbox.
