Steam's latest free RPG is perfect for Baldur's Gate 3 fans

Steam users can try an awesome RPG for free that's reminiscent of the OG Baldur’s Gate games and some of Bethesda’s earlier work.

Baldur’s Gate 3 might have just been many gamer’s gateway drug into the world of turn-based RPGs, as the sheer buzz around its release saw it strut out of 2023 as the Game Of The Year.

Take a look at Baldur’s Gate 3 below

If Baldur’s Gate 3 left you hungry for more RPG-goodness, and you don’t fancy another playthrough, then might I suggest Swordhaven: Iron Conspiracy, which is currently free-to-play on Steam via a demo.

The game’s description reads: “Swordhaven is a classic party-based RPG. Explore the land of Nova Drakonia, embark on quests unique to your character, discover mysterious artefacts of the ancients, and unravel a hidden conspiracy that threatens the very existence of the world.”

It really harkens back to the good old days of RPGs with a simplistic art style and menu layout, so much so that you could easily mistake it for an early Baldur’s Gate 3 game or even one of Bethesda’s first PC projects.

There are also plenty of options for roleplaying if you’re into that sort of thing, but with a simplistic take on combat that makes it accessible to the majority of players.

The only thing it’s missing at the time of writing is a release date, as the demo is currently available to play but there’s no word on when the full game might drop.

In the meantime you can play the demo a few times and see what you think, and if you like what you play you can always add the game to your Steam wishlist for updates on its release.

Baldur’s Gate 3 fans won’t want to sleep on Swordhaven: Iron Conspiracy, as it looks like it’ll be right up their street.
