If you’re a fan of Minecraft, then you’re most likely going to want to check out Necesse which offers a similar flavouring of fun.
Necesse isn’t quite a carbon copy of Minecraft, but it does offer yet another sandbox open-world that you’ll, no doubt, be able to lose hours to.
Developed by Fair Games ApS, Necesse finally released its Version 1.0 this month after originally launching in early access in 2019.
In that time, developers have carefully refined the game’s formula and that’s reflected in Necesse’s user reviews.

At the time of writing, Necesse boasts a ‘Very Positive’ review score on Steam with 94% of players enjoying what’s on offer in this pixel graphics survival title.
“Holy s**t. I literally just bought this and I'm already almost seven hours in. This game is incredible,” reads one positive review.
“Necesse is easily one of the greatest games I've played in recent times. It combines almost everything I love in gaming into a single experience,” adds another.
Step into a huge open-world
“Build, quest, and conquer across an infinite procedurally generated world,” the synopsis teases.

“Play alone or with friends as you establish a settlement and explore deep dungeons, fight monsters and bosses, mine rare ores, craft magical equipment, recruit specialists for your colony, and more!”
You can likely see why I’ve made the Minecraft comparison.
With its sandbox open-world and focus on mining, there’s definitely a similar brand of adventure on offer here, although you could also compare Necesse to wonderful titles like Terraria and Core Keeper.

The game can be enjoyed alone or with friends as co-op play is supported, with Necesse boasting online servers with hundreds of other players.
You’ll have the chance to build and grow your own settlement, recruit workers, venture out on quests, fight bosses, and craft items.
There are also plenty of customisation options.
If you don’t want to constantly battle random raiders showing up on your doorstep, worry not; you can turn off the feature entirely.

Necesse is, for now, only available on PC but we’ll, of course, keep an eye on whether it eventually decides to make the jump to console.
It won’t cost you an arm and a leg to give it a go.
Necesse is available on Steam for just £12.99 and judging by the fantastic response from its players, it sounds like a game well worth picking up and trying.
