Steam New Free Game Lets You Explore a Haunted Abandoned Online FPS

And it's really good

Steam users can wander around a haunted first-person shooter for free in this incredible horror game.

Horror games can be played all year round but they hit a little harder during the month of October as Halloween is right around the corner.

There are some great games out right now to help you get into the spooky mood like Silent Hill f or the soon-to-be-released Little Nightmares III.

For PC players though we’d highly recommend you try this new Steam demo before you dive into any AAA titles.

It’s called No Players Online and if that game sounds familiar to you it’s because it’s been around for many years now.

No Players Online was a short, 15 minute or so, experience that had players explore an abandoned first-person shooter. A Capture The Flag gamemode is playing like you’d find in one of the classic Halo games but there are, as the title implies, no players online. The servers are dead so it’s just you aimlessly wandering a map, scoring points by yourself.

Things take a turn though when a new player somehow joins the game, and events quickly ramp up in a full-blown horror show.

It became a bit of a cult-classic and now years later it’s getting an expanded release with a free demo available now.

The full game will see players try out a whole collection of games all with an old-school PC aesthetic, as you uncover the mystery of what’s lurking within this ancient hardware and hopefully put a stop to it.

It’s incredibly cool to see such a simple indie title skyrocket in popularity like this and if you want to support it I’d recommend giving the demo a go.

If you end up liking it but can’t wait to see and play more though you’re in luck as you won’t have to wait too long to play the full game.

At the time of writing the game is scheduled to launch on Steam on 6 November, just missing an ideal Halloween release date but only less than a month away, so we’re not having to wait too long.

For those brave enough to venture into a long-dead first-person shooter, wait just a little bit longer and you’ll be in the servers in no time.
